The Illinois Chiropractic Society (ICS) reported that on Thursday, they spoke with Humana’s Director of Clinical Coverage Policy Operations to clarify the recent changes impacting chiropractic care. Since the Advantage programs are not direct “Medicare” (and have taken it upon themselves to reduce our reimbursements even lower than Medicare rates) can we refuse to accept them as an insurer and charge the patient directly as a non participating provider and let the patient seek their own reimbursements?

Why has ICS not released this information yet?

Thank you Do you know is Medica and United Healthcare under this. I was told Optum ‘manages them’ Secondly. Are we able to go out of network with these advantage plans. Can we treat them as an out of network? I have one colleague saying they plan to go out of network and bill Medicare but that doesn’t sound right either.
